Before Renos
New color (egg yolk) is from a late 19th century palette. Roof is almost done!!
Welcome to The Loco Yolkel B&B / Holiday Home website.

Formerly we were called Hochwasser Bed & Breakfast, which was german for "high tide". We painted the B&B a historical late 19th century"Egg Yolk Yellow" (see picture above) and some locals thought we were crazy, hence our new name, The Loco (crazy) Yolkel (egg yolk yellow) B&B.

Hosts: Catherine & Joel Smith.

2330 Western Avenue, Parrsboro. 2 rooms (Queen beds), each with PRIVATE bathroom. One extra room (Queen bed) is available separately if you need an extra bed. Located just up the hill from the Ship's Company Theater.

16 Nov 2011 - After many long months our renovation "journey" is almost complete. Details on our reopening will be forthcoming soon.

NEW For 2011:

WALKING TRAIL
In addition we acquired the empty lot (approx .6 acre) next to us and have roughed in a walking trail that goes down along the river front and back up past the fire pit area. By spring 2012, along the this trail, will be some new sitting areas to enjoy the nature views and relaxing sounds of the water, especially by the rapids. We are excited to offer this for you as we enjoy it ourselves everyday. Cathy was most excited to discover many raspberries and blackberries, of which when in season, we will share with you for breakfast.

Cottage
As our current cottage (nick-named the "Pumpkin House" by the locals) is usually fully rented, we are pleased to announce that we will offer another cottage that will opening in the spring of 2012. This will be for, by the week, holiday home rentals only.  It is a historical home a couple doors down from our B&B, that will have 3 bedrooms, 1.5 baths, kitchen, dining room, and living room, More to follow on this soon. FYI, it will not make it in time for the 2012 Doers and Dreamers deadline but you can let us know if you are interested.

RV Site
We have added a RV parking site that will be ready for 2012. 30 Amp service and water will be available.
See picture below where Joel's parents trialed the site for us early this summer.

Veggie Garden
We installed also a vegetable garden this year and we expect to have lots to share with our guests mid to late summer.

Tentative Third Cottage
On a longer term note (Doer's Dreamers 2013) we hope to be offering a converted church in PEI for rent on a biweekly or monthly basis. It is right next the the Confederation Trail and is located in almost in the center of the Summerside, Cavendish, Charlottetown triangle.

Cottage is currently rented by long term tenant!

The B&B itself is a circa 1908 century home surrounded by mature maples and backing on the tidal river. If you time it right one can kayak out to the ocean from our property.

Full service breakfast 8:30-9:30am. Other arrangements can be made (Our guests consistently tell us we have the best breakfast ever!) .

Common room PC with Internet access, and a Wireless-N WIFI access point for your own laptop.

Several sitting areas and shared TV (DVD/Satellite) room. Gardens, patios, walking trail, fishing (trout, herring, eel), fire pit, and much more to ensure a comfortable stay.

Walk to town centre (5 mins), Ship's Company Theatre (5 mins) and Fundy shore (5 mins).
